In my last post I opined that John McCain was the luckiest politician in America. If I had any doubts, they were all removed after hearing Sarah Palin last night. My friends, if I were John McCain, I'd retired to my front porch, give interviews and issue position papers, and leave the campaigning to Governor Palin. She'd wipe the floor with Obama and Biden and make them like it!
Somewhere poor Barry is being reassembled after Ms. Sarah carved him up last night. It was a true pleasure listening to the governor's speech, delivered with a smile and twinkle in her eye. My favorite was the part in which she basically told the media and the Washington chattering class to stick it where the sun doesn't shine. I suspect I was not the only American who cheered!
In a rational world McCain/Palin would win this election in a landslide. They are going to have to fight the combined forces of the Democrats, the media, and the people who value being "stylish" and trendy more than the future of their country. What McCain needed was a pitbull; what he got was a hockey mom with the right stuff, one who has electrified conservatives and overnight injected energy and passion into the Republican ticket.
Next time I get a solicitation for money from McCain, it won't go straight into the trash can. I think I'll send him some money - with the advice to let Sarah spend it!
