What's at Stake

This is the most fateful presidential election in American history.   In securing Barack Obama the nomination of the Democrat Party, the left is swinging for the home run.  The confluence of events presents them with the best opportunity to seize power and implement a radical agenda since the 1930's.   If Barack Obama is elected president, the American electorate will be deemed, whether intended or not,  to have embraced a radical reconstitution of relationship between the federal government, society and the individual .   Obama's election will argur increased Democrat Party majorities in the Congress, assuring enactment of the leftist program of  massive taxation, income redistributionship, oppressive regulation of business,  suppression of free speech, subversion of the integrity of the electorial system,  vilification of Christian values, and surrender of American sovereignty to the United Nation and transnational entities.

Some conservatives believe that Obama and the Democrats will so make a mess of things up that a conservative comeback will occur in the midterm elections of 2010 or the presidential election of 2012.   Do not believe it.   For one, conservatives will be fighting a civil war between themselves.   The selection of Sarah Palin as the McCain's VP candidate has revealed a fissure in conservatism between rank and file conservatives and the conservative chattering class inside the Washington-New York axis which will become a canyon is McCain is defeated.   Things which have been said and written about Sarah Palin by the East coast conservative elites such as David Brooks, George Will, Peggy Noonan, and their ilk will not be forgotten or forgiven.   Conservatives in flyover country are sick to death of having to endure the contempt of liberals; we will not tolerate similar treatment by an effete intelligentsia.
Additionally, if there is one thing leftists have demonstrated whenever and wherever they have attained power, it is a determination to corrupt and subvert the electorial system to ensure they continue in power.   By the time the Democrat Congress is finished "reforming" the process for electing federal office holders,  the shenanigans of ACORN and the like in perpetrating fraud in voter registration or voting the drunk or dead will seem prosaic.    Don't be surprised if the idea of "proxy" voting, allowing one person to cast ballots for many, is advanced.   What could be more fair or convenient than some nursing home director, church pastor, hospital administrator, or union boss getting proxies from their charges to cast mass votes?  Make no mistake, the Democrats will move heaven and earth to remove all guards against fraud and corruption in the voting process to maximize "votes."

The Democrats will move quickly to silence the voices that have tormented them these past years.   Rush Limbaugh, Hannity, Glen Beck, better make contingency plans on how they will continue their programs.   A Democrat Congress will certainly enact a new version of the misnamed Fairness Doctrine, the effect of which is to force radio stations to drop talk radio programs (the only successful ones being conservative) through economic coercion.    Individual free speech will be imposed by a compliant media, who will merciless persecute anyone daft enough to criticize the Annointed One.  Who wants an anal media examination?  Who wants to called a  "rascist?"

Opposed to same-sex marriage?   You won't enjoy the Obama presidency.   Obama has made it plain that his appointments to the Supreme Court and the lower Federal courts will be liberal ideologues.   A Democrat Senate will confirm his appointments with alacrity.    Obama opposes the Defense of Marriage Act passed by Congress in 1996; once in power, expect the Congress to move to repeal the Act, and Obama to sign the repeal.    Homosexual marriage, a perversion of a Divinely ordained institution, will be forced on the American people without a single state having voted to approve it.    There is no end to the mischief that can be worked when judges see their role as social engineers making a "just" society.

Speaking of religion, everyone understands that electing Obama with a Democrat Congress will put in power the most secularly oriented government in our history.    Obama claims to be a Christian and I cannot claim to know his heart.  But I do know that many of his positions are not consistent with express statements in the Bible or with Christian theology.   How can a man who claims to be a Christian possibly endorse unregulated abortion, and oppose the outlawing of infanticide?

Obama's economic program is unabashly Marxist.   I don't believe we have ever had the candidate of a major political party for president be so upfront with his intention to use the United States tax code to redistribute wealth.   Now the Federal government has been in the progressive taxation business for a long time so in some respect the horse has already left the barn on this issue.   But Obama seems intent on a radical advance, by demonizing the "rich" to justify as a moral action the transfer of their wealth.    If it is immoral to be rich and have money, what's the motive in doing the innovation,  hard work and sacrifice necessary to accumulate wealth?    Obama will be unable to tax the rich enough to fund his expansion of the federal welfare state.    My friends, before he and the Democrat Congress are finished, "rich" will be defined as anyone with an income.

If any one group will celebrate an Obama victory even more than the left wing, it will be the Islamofascist terrorists and their state sponsors.     The world will interpret Obama's victory as a repudiation of George Bush and his aggressive prosecution of the War on Terror.    Obama's approach and proposals in our international relations will provide aid and comfort to those who wish an America defeated and humbled.   Obama and Democrats really don't believe in War on Terror, which they consider a law enforcement problem.    They are determined to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in Iraq by premature withdrawal of American troops.   All this talk about shifting emphasis to Afganistan is so much foldorol; Obama will pull out of Afganistan in short order.    Even Joe Biden admits that Obama will be tested by the world's villians in the first six months of his term.    If I lived in Taiwan I would begin to adjust myself to becoming a part of mainland China; Obama will never use force to defend Taiwan from an invasion by the Communist mainland.   If I lived in Israel, I wouldn't count on the United States in the pinch.  Barack taking action against Iran?  Forget about it!    For goodness sake, Obama wants to sit down and make nice with the wacko president of Iran!    Why on earth the American people would elect a man whose inexperience and naivete invites attack is beyond me.

We should not believe that the election of the first black president will improve race relations.  On the contrary, I predict that Obama's time as president will be one of heightented racial tension.    Too many people have too much invested in a racial spoils system to join hands and proclaim a new day of racial harmony.   Whites will grow tire very quickly of any criticism of Obama automatically being labeled as rascist.

Perhaps the most troubling and depressing effect of an Obama victory is the message which will be sent to tens of millions of Americans.   To them,  Obama's election represents a reputiation of the values and beliefs which define America and patriotism.  Obama is,  by background, associations and temperment a rejection of American exceptionsim.   My goodness, what can the American people be thinking installing as president as man who chooses not be wear a flag pin until shamed into doing so?    Millions of Americans will not support or tolerate a president who at times seems embarassed to be an American.   Moreover, millions of Americans will begin to wonder why they should continue to sustain a national government hostile to everything they hold dear.   We don't just "cling" to our guns and faith; these things reflect beliefs which will not be abandoned or surrendered to an oppression liberal establishment.

It is a historic tragedy that Obama's opponent is by temperment and ideology uniquely unsuited to point out the danger Obama poses to the country.   McCain's attacks on Obama have been half-hearted and tepid.   Only Sarah Palin has demonstrated an understanding of what Obama's policies would portend.   Frankly, McCain should have took my advice and stayed at home and let Palin carry the campaign to Obama and Biden.    I think the status of the race would be far more favorable to McCain.

Any student of history knows that voters can make mistakes.   I fear that American voters are about to make the gravest mistake they have ever made and elect Barack Obama as president.
