Its hard to pin the socialist label on Barack Obama when a Republican president’s administration nationalized the nation’s financial sector. Now it appears the automobile industry is next. When does this end? The money behind these bailouts is a fiction, sustained only by the suspension of logic of America’s creditors. Sooner or later someone is going to call in their chips.

Homosexuals have reacted with a temper tantrum to the passage of Proposition 8 in California, which amended the California constitution to reinstate the traditional definition of marriage into that document. Particular targets of their wrath have been blacks and Hispanics, who supported the amendment by strong majorities. Perhaps blacks have a clearer perspective about what actually is a civil right, as opposed to a sexual practice. Regardless the reaction has been instructive. For homosexuals, the democratic process is legitimate only when they prevail; other adverse majorities are perforce illegitimate, to be vilified and intimidated into submission and silence. Democracy for me, not for thee!

Homosexual "marriage" is an issue on which compromise is impossible. In my view, the whole business illustrates the proverbial slippery slope where the initial concession inevitably leads to the next one, and then another. Advocates of traditional marriage never should have conceded the propositions (1) that homosexual unions are morally acceptable or (2) should receive legal recognition through civil unions. For the Christian whether homosexual conduct is acceptable should not be an issue; the Bible is clear that homosexual conduct is a sin, in fact, an abomination before God, a corruption of the natural order. If, as the Bible states, God Himself has declared homosexual conduct sinful, and an abomination, how can a Christian hold to the contrary? When did God cede to any group of humans the right to define sin?
For the advocates of traditional marriage, once homosexual unions were viewed benignly and conceded to deserve legal recognition the debate has been all downhill. Sure same-sex unions can’t produce children but neither do all traditional marriages. Trying to debate marriage separate from religious considerations is like fighting with one arm tried behind your back. The simple truth is that marriage is a divinely ordained institution uniting persons of the opposite sex. By definition, marriage cannot involve partners of the same sex. The courts may one day force homosexual unions on an unwilling public, but they will not be marriages.
In my humble view, Christians should never agree or concede that homosexual conduct is morally acceptable and homosexual unions deserving of any legal recognition or protection. While we are enjoined to submit to civil authority, when the civil authority acts in a manner directly contrary to the command of our God, God trumps the civil authority. If the courts legislate homosexual marriage, it will be the job of Christians to refuse to heel to this sort of judicial tyranny and decline to recognize the legitimacy of such unions. If the nation is determined to go to Hell, let it do so without our help.
The fact there is even a debate about homosexual marriage reveals the extent insanity has taken a hold in the culture of this country. No society, even polygamous societies, has ever recognized homosexual marriage. Ten thousand years of human history, tradition and the tenets of EVERY major religion are not be discarded in less than a generation simply because one group of malcontents wants social acceptance of their perverted sexual practices.
Homosexuals are counting on people being intimidated into silence by the fear of being labeled a bigot or homophobe. Militant homosexuals have become emboldened and now invade and desecrate houses of worship and attack old ladies holding the cross. So much for tolerance! Once corruption is let lose it recognizes no law but its own desires. Homosexual conduct is evil and deserving of no legal protection in any form. Bowers v. Hardwick, the 1986 U.S. Supreme Court case which upheld the right of the state to prosecute sodomy, was correctly decided, and Lawrence v. Texas, the 2003 case which overruled Bowers, is wrong. Regardless of what the courts conjure up, I do not and will not accept, agree with, or submit to, any court decision, legislation, or popular referendum which purports to authorize homosexual marriage or anything like it. If such a thing ever comes about in the United States of America, we will reap the Devine punishment due a society which embraces perversion as normal.

Until Mr. Obama was elected I never realized that we had an Office of the President-Elect, with its own seal.

Between bailouts, environmental regulation, increased taxation, etc., will the average citizen have anything left to call his own? What is to stop government from taxing you into the poor house but the fear office holders have of losing power? That fear is going away. There will soon be, if not already, a majority of the electorate which pays no income tax and who directly benefit from the socialist policies redistributing wealth. These folks have no incentive whatsoever in electing representatives who will lessen the tax burden on the working minority. At all levels of government there is an insatiable appetite for more taxes, more money, more everything. I’ve worked in both state and municipal governments and I can speak with confidence that government WILL NEVER stop grabbing for more money. We are on the road to serfdom or the collapse of a civil society.

The American automobile big three, General Motors, Ford, and Chrysler, want the U.S. government to contribute billions of dollars to sustain their operations. Actually, what is being sustained is the flow of money to UAW members and retirees for salaries, pensions and medical benefits. We may be getting a preview of the future of all American industry when the Democrats payoff the unions for their political support by passing legislation to eliminate the secret ballot when workers vote whether to unionize. Increased unionization will drive up employer costs, which of course, must be passed on to the customer. Foreign competitors will not have that problem. A priori, trade barriers must be erected and protectionism resurrected to keep the newly unionized industries afloat. The consequences for you and me, less competition and higher prices, to say nothing of the loss of workplace freedom.
