Some conservative commentators have expressed the view that President-elect Obama is demonstrating unexpected moderation in his cabinet choices. I call this grasping at straws. So what if Mr. Obama has window dressed his administration with moderate left wingers and malleable Republicans? To borrow a phrase, this is putting lipstick on a pig. Mr. Obama has not changed. He remains a far left socialist/Marxist. The public faces of his administration will serve only to distract from the real work being done by the army of assistant secretaries, under secretaries, deputies, etc., who populate the Federal bureaucracy. These folks will be the hardcore leftists, the true believers who like termites will eat away and weaken our liberties and diminish our freedoms. As Mr. Obama demonstrated in his campaign, he is a master of concealment, and his cabinet serves to distract from what will be going on behind the curtain.

Rather than wasting money on bailing out the Detroit branch of the domestic automobile industry, why not simply give every American household $25,000 with the proviso that the money must be used to buy a new vehicle made by GM, Ford or Chrysler? They’d get needed cash and we’d all get a new car. If we’re going to burn money at least let the taxpayer get something out of it.

Everyone knows that the courts have misconstrued the First Amendment’s free exercise and establishment clauses respecting religion. During Christmastime this manifests itself with arguments about nativity scenes and crosses on public property. Under the prevailing rule it seems that such displays are legal only if they are overwhelmed by surrounding bells and whistles so as to be unnoticeable. Maybe we should describe the legal standard as a sort of sliding scale: the greater the Christian is offended and angry by the disparagement of his faith, the more constitutional the display in the eyes of the court system. How long, O Lord, how long, will thy people put up with a tyrannical judiciary? Where is the man who will tell these robed dictators, "NO, I WILL NOT YIELD?"

I read that a Russian journalist predicts the crackup of the United States into six countries. You know, he may be right about the crackup, though his description of what follows one is wildly off base. There are many explosive pressures lose in our nation which, if unresolved, may well lead to a violent blowup. The emasculation of the public school system by the left has resulted in a populace largely ignorant of American history and government. A large number of our fellow citizens have little to no attachment to the United States. The public has an entitlement mentality which transforms every desire into a "right" which government must honor. People think they have a right not to be offended. The United States reminds me of a married couple who remain together from habit and inertia, where communication, affection and dedication have fled. All that such a situation is waiting for is an excuse for a bust up.

Where is the money coming from to pay for all these bailouts?  How long can the dollar retain any value? We are headed for either a depression or hyperinflation, either of which will sorely test the fabric of American society.  How will the soft and pampered American public react when food is scarce? Baton down the hatches everyone, it’s going to be a bumpy time ahead.

Wouldn’t it be nice if a few hundred thousand voting age born-again Christians moved to San Francisco? It does seem to be a place in need of missionary work and has the benefits of wonderful climate and beautiful scenery. Maybe our churches should seek out volunteers and agree to subsidize Christians who move there for a period of time. Even the addition of only 100,000 new conservative voters would work a dramatic change in the landscape. Well, it’s just a thought.

Newsweek magazine has published article in favor of homosexual marriage and essentially calling an idiot anyone who bases their moral beliefs on the Bible. Homosexual marriage has never only been about same sex unions but a declaration of war against the God of creation who made marriage between a man and woman.  Newsweek has contributed to bringing into focus the conflict between perverts and Christians who believe the Word of God.
