The United States in the year of our Lord 2009 is a nation gone mad. The events of September 11, 2001 were supposed to usher in an era of mature sobriety and realism to confront an implacable enemy dedicated to our destruction. Instead it seems to have served as an excellerant to the development of the condition of infantilism in a majority of populace. The definite evidence of this is the election this past November 4th of the singularly most unqualified individual in American history as president of the United States, a guttersnipe whose successful campaign of vacuity and felicity was sweet music to an electorate desperate to avoid adulthood and responsiblity. Exhibit A in support of this proposition is the comment of an Obama supporter on the day after his election, declaiming joyfully that she no longer had to worry about paying her mortgage or paying for gasoline. As evidence of the dumbing down of the population and the desire to be treated and cared for as a child, it is difficult to top that.
So now we are saddled with a president whose political and social philosophy can charitably be described as Marxist light. Every statement and act of Barack Obama reinforces the impression that he is a true radical socialist, dedicated to achieving to the Marxist/socialist dream of a "just" society through the coercive power of government, without regard to the consequences or reality. In attitude, beliefs, and desires, Mr. Obama is an American version of Fidel Castro or Hugo Chavez. And should Mr. Obama be successful in implementing his agenda for change, the United States will one day resemble Castro's Cuba and Chavez' Venezuela.
Anyone familiar with Obama's record or even his famous remark to Joe the plumber knows that he believes that redistribution of income from the wealthier to the poorer is a moral imperative. Whether doing so makes economic sense is not an issue. Since Obama believes that rich people became rich by fleecing poor folks, government must redress the wrong by using the force of law to transfer money back to the less fortunate. The richer a person is, perforce, the more guilty he must be of crimes against the people. This mentality is the driving force behind the Obama budget for the federal government for fiscal year 2010, crammed with tax increases of one kind or another on the successful, the working, the innovative. In fact, the so-called Stimulus bill and this budget constitute Act 1 of one the great unexpressed goals of the Obama administration, which to be "get even" or square accounts with this or that group (rich folks, successful folks, white folks, males) for 200 plus years of perceived injustices. It should be understood that in electing Obama, the United States has for the first time elected a president who really doesn't like the country he was elected to lead. Rather than conforming to it, Obama wants to remake us in an image more appealing to him.
What Obama is, of course, is a fanatic, though the degree of diabolism isn't clear. A fanatic is impervious to experience, logic and reason . Stock markets may fall, banks, collapse, and taxpayers have tea parties from coast to coast, but none of that will deflect Barack Obama from his campaign to change America. Why this is so clear to you and me but seems to elude elite conservative commentators and others of good will is indeed perplexing. The Obama luminosity blinding these people is in realty that on the oncoming train about to run them over. You and I understand that in his heart Obama hates America as it has been and is and desires to make it into a nation we won't recognize or desire to live in.
Already the groundwork is being done to eliminate or marginize opponents of the new order of things. Private citizens who dare raise a voice in criticism are attacked by name by the White House press secretary, and subjected to calumny and slander through leftist media and organizations coordianted from the White House. For the socialist utopia can't be accomplished in a free society. Individual freedom is messy, and is an obstacle to orderly government planning needed to obtain the just society. [It should be understood that the entire environmentalist or green agenda is just another subset of the socialist movement. A "just" society is, perforce, a "green" society.]
As president Obama is in possible to alter or enact federal regulations, enact executive orders, and stack the federal judiciary with left-wing judges to interpret the Constitution in ways to advance his agenda and silence his critics. The logic of contemporary liberalism leads to tyranny, as any exiled Cuban in south Florida can attest.
So, if the economy collapses, if unemployment soars, if the people are afraid and desperate, so much the better to advance the aggandizement of power in the federal government and the dimunition of centers of potential opponents. This explains Obama's seeming indifference to the meltdown of the financial markets and the specter of the collapse of the banking system. It's not that he is actively working to bring these things about, simply that he doesn't fear the consequences to his agenda if they happen.
I know that it is hard for most Americans to accept that a president of the United States may actually despise his own country. But that is the hard truth, like it or not. Lets consider one, very recent, example. The secretary of the Department of Veterans Affairs, retired General Eric Sinseki, has stated that the Obama administration is considering requiring that American soldiers, sailors, Marines and Airmen wounded or injured in the line of duty serving their country in a time of war, should pay for their own medical care via private insurance. Can there be a more calculated betrayal of the brave men and women who have volunteered to serve there country than this? You tell me that what sort of mindset, other than that which seethes with resentment and hatred for America (perfectly represented by the Armed Services), could even conceive of such an idea, while simultanteously expanding welfare benefits and bailing out mismanaged auto companies and mortgage deadbeats?
We have begun a national nightmare; one day we wll wakeup, but our surroundings will look far different from when we closed our eyes.
