We were told that elections have consequences.  Millions of unfortunates in Iran, North Korea, and elsewhere are learning that the consequences of American elections may have negative impact on their lives.

1.     Mahmound Ahmadinejad was proclaimed re-elected as president of Iran.   What we know indicates a strong likelihood that his re-election was procured by fraud.   Certainly tens of thousand Iranians thought so, as they were willing to risk life and limb to protest the declared result in the streets of Tehran.   The ruling mullahs, being the reasonable men that Obama believes he must negotiate with, responded by killing and maiming the protesters.    For now it appears the repression has succeeded.    During the entire sorry episode Obama has been remarkably reticent in his criticism of the mullahs and Ahmandinejad.   We learned last Sunday from administration spokesmen that Obama still seeks to negotiate with the regime.    This is more than shameful; it is craven cowardice and ideological blindness.   Everyone with a speck of intelligence know that there is no negotiating with the made mullahs that run Iran.   They and Ahmandinejad have made it as plain as they can that they want the United States ruined and us converted to their religion or dead.  The only negotiations they have interest in would concern our surrender.

2.     North Korea threatens to launch a ballistic missile in the direction of Hawaii.    Its leaders have declared the 1953 armistice which ended the Korean War to be no longer in effect.   North Korea is supplying our declared enemies with technology to assist them with developing nuclear weapons and perhaps with the components to facilitate to do so.   The Obama administration has responded by . . .   doing nothing.   

3.     The president of Honduras in Central America sought to emulate Hugo Chavez and act outside his nation's constitution to perpetuate himself in power.   Turned down by his nation's Supreme Court, opposed by the legislature controlled by his party and a military unwilling to trash the constitution, the president decided to defy the law and conduct an illegal and constitutional referendum to authorize him to continue in office.   The Honduran military then arrested the president and put him on a plane out of the country.   The legislature meet and named a replacement to hold office until elections this November.    One would think that the Obama administration would applaud this result, since it (a) upholds the rule of law in Honduras, and (2) avoids another tin pot dictator in Latin America.   One would also think that as Obama had argued that the United States should not interfere in the interior affairs of another nation to justify his restrain concerning Iran he would be as reserved concerning Honduras.  But know, Obama branded the president's ouster as "illegal" and demanded that he be returned to power.    As a consequence Obama aligned the United States with Chavez, Castro and the other dictators in Latin America in condemning the Honduras military UPHOLDING ITS COUNTRY'S CONSTITUTION!  

4.     In its words and deeds, the Obama administration demonstrates a contempt for the rule of law, no preference or affinity for democratic governments,  no concern beyond empty cliches for the atrocities committed by governments of other nations against their citizens, no friendship for freedom hungry populations, and no shame.

5.     Micheal Jackson died at age 50.    In the days following his death I hear many things said of Mr. Jackson, including one commentator would declared him the greatest musical talent since Mosart.    Perhaps that comment was a bit too much.   It seems obvious that Mr. Jackson was for a many years a trouble soul; all the evidence you'd need to reach this conclusion came from his ever changing face via surgery and his increasing bizarre behavior.   Hopefully, in death, he has found peace.

6.     The House of Representatives pass legislation called "cap and trade" for the stated purpose of combating global warming or climate change.   It will not do so.   Instead, if this legislation becomes law, the costs of food, utilities, gasoline, medicine, and other staples of life for the average American will greatly increase.   For residents in the less urbanized parts of the country the increased costs will be particularly dramatic, since energy and food costs tend to be less than in urban areas.   Perhaps this explains the vote in the House, which was extraordinarily along regional lines:  congressmen from the Northeast and California voted overwhelming in favor, while those from the rest of the country was strongly against.   In effect, the bill was a declaration of war by urban America against the rest of the country.   Since urban America is the stronghold of leftists who lead the Democrat controlled Congress and invest the Obama administration, "climate change" is a convenient excuse for extracting wealth from Republican and conservative parts of the country.     More and more it seems to me that the domestic agenda of the Obama administration and the Democrat Congress is to impoverish the great majority of Americans by massive regulation and tax increases, leading us beholden to and at the mercy of a leviathan Federal government.

7.      The Civil Rights Act of 1964, prohibits discrimination based on, among other things, race.   In the the case of white firefighters from New Haven, Connecticut, challenging the city's decision to jettison promotional tests which they aced in favor of promoting other, non-white persons, the Supreme Court interpreted the Act to ------- prohibit discrimination based on race.   It is a rare event for the Supreme Court to actually follow the law, particularly when doing so favors white males.    The decision has come in for a lot of comment, since it reversed a decision of a panel of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals which contained Sonya Sotomeyer, President Obama's nominee for the Court.   There's little doubt that Judge Sotomeyer would have joined the dissenters.   Fortunately, since she will be replacing one of them, her view, at least of this matter, won't change the outcome.

8.     I've said before that I believe Barack Obama despises the nation he was elected to lead.   Indeed, despise may be too soft a description of his feelings.    There were plenty of hints during his campaign:  his refusal to wear an American flag pin until it became an issue; the photo of his standing with hands at this side during the national anthem; Michelle Obama's remark about her husband's primary success being the first time she was proud of America.   Obama is truly sui generis in American history:  he is the first president in American history who loathes the society which elected him.    He and his administration are an alien presence in this country, not loyal or patriotic in any sense we understand the word but truly a Manchurian president, intent on the destruction of all things most Americans  value and hold dear.  

9.     What then, does this mean for the average American?   What is he to do about the national administration being in the control of a man who, in all important aspects. an enemy?     The patriot should arm himself with knowledge of the opinions of the Founding Fathers, who understood had to deal with a despot.   There example should guide us.

President Obama has nominated Federal appellate Judge Sonia Sotomayer to replace David Souter on the U.S. Supreme Court.   Apparently a Hispanic woman has more empathy than a white male when it comes to the U.S. Constitution.  At least Judge Sotomayor has said as much.   On the surface this is one liberal replacing another.   However, Sotomayor represents a leap forward in the substitution of race and gender for intellect and temperament.   Liberals see the judiciary as an another venue for seizing power and imposing their ideology.   Conservatives believe the courts should interpret the law and keep their individual biases out of it.    When liberals speak of empathy, they really mean judicial engineering of our society toward the socialist utopia.

 Frankly, we've reached the point now where the argument shouldn't be over individual nominees to the Supreme Court but over the whole concept of judicial review.    If experience has demonstrated one thing, it is the tendency of the judiciary to expand its power at the expense of the elected branches of government, and, as a consequence, for the ideologies of judges to displace the views of the people expressed through their elected representatives.    It seems that an independent judiciary which is not aggressively checked will invariably lead to tyranny by judges.   That's the debate we should be having.

White House spokesman Robert Gibbs has warned crtics of Judge Sotomayor's nomination to be "careful" in their comments.   No doubt good advice.    Considering this administration's contempt for law it would not be surprising if some critics find unfriendly demonstrators in front of their homes or if their families are harassed.    This president and his accomplices, being true leftists, have no regard for the rights of opponents and desire nothing more than to silence them.    Mr. Obama is a liberal fascist; he represents the guttter in power.

North Korea has tested a nuclear bomb and mid-to-long range missiles.    Mr. Obama has called on the international community to act to pressure North Korea to abandon its nuclear program.    Of course, neither Obama or the international community will do anything.   George Bush should have solved this program during his second term but passed it along to Obama, who is remarkably unsuited by experience, temperment or ideology to deal with it.   As a consequence a murderous regime lead by a nutcase will have nuclear weapons and soon the ability to deliver them to the United States.

Speaking of crazies and nuclear bombs, it is clear that Obama is prepared to accept a nuclear armed Iran.   As bad as a nuclear armed North Korea is, a nuclear armed Iran is far, far worse.   The leader of Iran is more than a nutcase, he's a Islamic nutcase, which means he views death and even national extermination, so long as it is in the service of Allah, as the way to paradise.   Mahmoud Ahmadinejad intends to use his nuclear bomb, as soon as possible to ignite the return of the 12th inman, his apocalyptic vision of the future.  

And what of Isreal, our long time ally in the region?   It has become obvious that Obama has little love for the Jewish state and is determined to pressure it to accept a "peace" settlement with the Palestians and surrounding Arab states which will leave Isreal highly vulnerable to attack.   If Isreal desires to attack Iran, expect Obama to do everything he can to obstruct the attack and to leave Isreal to the consequences to follow.    Obama may not be a Muslim, but his policies in the Middle East certainly seem tailored to find favor with that group.

General Motors has filed for bankrupcty.   What emerges from the process will continue to bear the name but none of the cache or history of the great automotive company which not so long ago was synonymous with American industrial dominance.   First Chrysler and now GM have been raped by the Obama administration to repay the United Auto Workers for its support.   The owners and secured creditors of the company have had their investment and money stolen with the connivance of the United States Government.    The Federal judiciary, which has never been shy about overturning the will of the people in so many contexts,  it strangely constrained when it comes to protecting the contract and statutory rights of shareholders and bondholders.    From the beginning to the present, the Obama administration has behaved in a manner Mussolini or Hitler would have understood well.

Dr. George Tiller was an abortionist.  As a physician he murdered innocent children in the womb as a "service."   This murder is lawful in the United States because of a judicial abomination called Roe v. Wade, decided by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1973, and which the Court has stood by like a wayward child since.  While Tiller's actions was legal civilly, morally he was still a murderer.  

Another person took upon himself to kill Tiller.   Opposition to abortion seems to have been a motivating factor in the killing.   No one endorses murder as means to resolve disputes on moral or political manners.   Yet I find myself conflicted.  Tiler would certainly have continued his practice and killed more innocent babies in the womb.   The individual who killed him stopped that carnage.  We recognize as lawful the use of deadly force against a person who is an imminent threat to cause death or serious injury to others.    In Afghanistan and Pakistan, as a means of national defense, our nation uses missiles to kill terrorists who pose a danger to the life and health of Americans and our allies.   The terrorists are killed to protect the innocent because they have demonstrated their intent to murder innocents when and wherever they can.  Tiler murdered innocents and intended to continue to do so.  It is easy to condemn the actions of Tiller's killer as murder and pontificate about moral or political issues being resolved through the democratic process.  But if one believes that life begins at conception, what of the argument that Tiller's killer exercised legitimate defense of others?    The moral case is not so clear cut.  Perhaps an answer is that by killing Tiller the perpetrator denied Tiller a chance to repent.    It is something to ponder.
 

I marvel at the apparent indifference to the mass of the American people to the Obama administration's continuing subversion of the free market system and rule of law in this country.   I question  if there is any provocation that would lead the people to rise up and declare "No more."   Is our heritage and liberty of so little value to us that we will allow it to be emasculated without a fight?    It's maddening to me that a  majority seem so mesmerized by a talented demigod that they will acquience in policies that ensure there country is bankrupted and laid open to its enemies.   This is not the America I grew up in.

Mr. Obama is scheduled to give a speech to the Moslem world from Cairo, Eqypt on June 4th.   Since he has already prostrated himself before the Saudi king, made nice with Iran, and indicated a willingness to betray Israel, I don't know what he has left to say.    Lots of people think he's a closet Muslim, so maybe he will "come out of the closet."   His previous overseas junkets have been apology tours so I suppose he can apologize for all our imagined transgressions against the Arab peoples.   What is certain is that nothing he says will help our position in the Middle East and is more likely to damage it.    Obama oozes weakness when abroad and the Middle East is the last place that a leader or his nation needs to be perceived as weak.   It is an invitation to attack.

Mr. Obama spoke at Notre Dame university on the subject of abortion.    The thrust of his remarks is that we must learn to disagree, agreeably.    One doubts he would have said the same about  slavery, circa 1860.    Abortion is the murder of an innocent life for the convenience of the living.   No amount of presidential blathering alters this fundamental truth.   The Bible states that a man is known by his fruits.   Mr. Obama has stated that he is a Christian.    Mr. Obama has a record of supporting abortion on demand, free of the mildest restriction.    The reader can draw his own conclusion.

The homosexual movement has been on a role lately, with victories in favor of homosexual "marriage" in Iowa, Maine and, very soon, New Hampshire.    Once homosexual civil unions were accepted, the horse left the barn on homosexual "marriage."    What was considered a middle ground on the issue in fact constitutes a surrender of the high ground in the argument.    We seem to be moving inexorably to homosexual "marriage" prevailing throughout the nation.   Once that is the case, it follows quite naturally that people and institutions who don't accept the new order of things will suffer condemnation and legal consequences.   The homosexual marriage movement, like all modern leftist movements, is fundamentally totalitarian in nature, and will tolerate no opposing voices.

Mr. Obama never wastes the opportunity to condemn the Bush administration for tactics it used in defending the country after September 11, 2001.   Obama contends the tactics were inconsistent with our "values."   What values does he refer to?    A nation has interests, not values, and the preeminnet interest of a nation is survival.   The greatest obligation a government owes its citizens it to protect their lives and property from external threats.   In both respects then the Bush administration was successful.   One of my "values" (and one I suspect most share) is to escape murder by barbarians wtih a 7th century mindset.    The highest value is for the United States to emerge victorious in its conflict with radical Islamists; hamstringing our efforts with pseudo moralizing from Mr. Obama can be dispensed with.

Comparing Dick Cheney to Barack Obama reminds me of what always happens when an experienced baseball pitcher faces a wet-behind-the-ears rookie batter who thinks he a hotshot.   The rookie is going to be schooled everytime.

One thing that's obvious about Obama is his inablity to handle criticism - an odd defect in a politician.   It is, however, perfectly consistent with a tyrant.    The tyrant feeds like a parasite on the public's adulation; criticism deny the tyrant sustanence and causes him to lash out at the critics.   Sooner or later Obama will be unable to control  himself and the mask will come off, exposing for all to see the very unattractive core of his personality.

One thing that I cannot understand about the Chrsyler and GM situations is why the bondholders of these companies have not sued to protect their interests, or why there clients haven't sued them for breaching their fiduciary duty to protect the investment.   You can't look sideways in this country without being sued but for some reason but, though billions of dollars are at stake, nobody has come forward to litigate what is an clear and obvious violation of the bondholders rights.   Has the Gestapo visited them after dark?   Have they been threatened with the concentration camp?   People don't just walk away from billions.    There has to be something ugly and lawless going on behind the scenes that we'll learn about one day.

The utltimate issue regarding health care is whether the individual wants to be able to receive all the care he can pay or insure himself for, or let the government decide when he should die.   It really boils down to that.    For the elderly, socialized health care will be a death warrant, since socialized health care means rationed health care, and rationed health care means restricting it to patients of an age and condition to make it cost effective.  Socialized health care reduces the individual's life to strictly running the numbers - eventually yours will be up.

Mr. Obama has demonstrated in his foreign policy the tendency to belittle our allies and embrace our enemies.   I'm certain the leaders of Israel have noticed and will act accordingly with respect to the Iranian nuclear program.    It is a matter of when not if that Israel will attack Iran.   It will be the opening salvo of a reckoning in the Middle East that will shake the world.

1.    Miss California denied the Miss USA crown because she espoused the traditional view of marriage as between a man and a woman. 

    Apparently the acceptable default position in our society is that marriage should be any combination of the sexes.   This constitutes a rejection of over 5000 years of human history and the tenets of every major religion.  History has proven that tolerance of open homosexuality so corrupts and diminishes a society that it collapses from within.   Abandoning age old traditions and limitations will have negative consequences, both foreseeable and not.   The effect on the bedrock unit of society is the family.  The family will not survive the redefinition of marriage.   The effect on children will be catastrophic.     

2.     The spirit of Nazism lives in the soul of the Homosexual lobby.

    The triumph of homosexuals in the marriage debate won’t stop there.  As demonstrated by the outrageous attacks made against  Miss California and the supporters of the successful Proposition 8 in California, with goal of homosexuals is to stamp out any public opposition to there conduct.   Homosexuals intend nothing less than to criminalize any opposition to homosexual conduct and silence critics.   Hence the damage to the heretofore constitutionally protect freedom of speech, religion, and association will be sacrificed on the altar of political correctness.   Homosexuals serve as the advance scouts of the Marxist-leftist cabal now in the saddle in Washington and many state capitals, in whom dwells the totalitarian impulse now merely to govern but to reign without the impediments of opposition.

3.       Obama   ponders the transformation of America into a banana republic by criminalizing policy differences with ideological opponents.

    The desire of the Marxist-leftists to punish George Bush and the members of his administration is well known.  The authorization of enhanced interrogation techniques,  which has been branded as “torture,” is merely a means to this end.   The left could care less about the individuals subjected to the techniques; the entire purpose is to get Bush and his administration.  

    Obama, being a member in good standing of the Marxist left, is torn between his heart’s desire to assist his fellow travelers and promote show trials of Bush and his deputies, and his political sense that doing so would derail his agenda of radically changing America.   Trying former heads of state for political differences is typical of banana republics.   It is something we have never considered in the United States.  For one thing, simply from the self preservation instinct, most administrations realize that breaking this taboo ensures that when opponents regain power, as they will inevitably do in a republic, then they will be the ones on trial.   Moreover, the bitterness and rage such a course of action will create in the opposition saps the health and vitality of a democracy and will eventually lead to civil unrest and violence, just as in a banana republic.  

    Finally, I, and I suspect a majority of the American public, don’t lose any sleep over subjecting barbarians, who desire to murder us in our beds, to rough treatment to obtain information about their organizations and plans.   It amazes me that leftists are outraged by any tactic, including harsh language, which might cause a terrorist discomfort, but perfectly content that innocent babies are slaughtered in the womb.


4.      The EPA and Congress plot the destruction of the American economy via regulation of CO2.  

          Categorizing CO2 as a pollutant which must be regulated is the most far reaching declaration the EPA has ever made.  It literally gives government the power to tax the air you exhale.  

           That this is insane is beside the point.   The costs to business and the individual taxpayer will be in the trillions.  The loss jobs and industry to other countries will be staggering.   The improvement to our environment will be nil.   China, India and other developing nations are not about to hamstring their economies with this sort of environmental regulation, and will be only too glad to host the new industries which will be moved there from America.   Consequently, we will wreck the American economy and reduce the standard of living for tens of millions of Americans to solve something which we can't solve and really is not a problem anyway.


5.      Obama genuflects to foreign dictators.

         There are few thugs left that our peerless leader has not apologized to.    I guess he's practicing his routine for the presidents of Iran and North Korea.     It is a historic tragedy that at such a critical moment in history the United States elected as its president a man so sadly lacking in appreciation of the nation's positive contributions to history and of its unique status in today's world.   Obama despises the country he was elected to lead, which, more than anything else,  predicts the sort of change he wants to bring to the United States.   Obama wants a country which you and I will not recognize or desire to live in.


Only two weeks to the US premier of the new Star Trek movie.   Every review I've read says it's great!   Can't wait to see it. 

It is somewhat of a relief that one area of the Federal government still functions with efficiency and professionalism.  The rescue of Captain Phillips from the Somali pirates reminds us that the U.S. military remains the preeminent armed force in the world.  I, for one, am very grateful for that.   And, to the extent he deserves any credit for the rescue, I compliment President Obama.   

That said, I wonder how much longer our military will maintain its position as the best in the world.   The Obama administration plans to cut or eliminate several weapons systems, such as the F-22 air supremacy warplane, which give the U.S. a qualitative edge against actual or potential enemies.   I believe that sacrificing military superiority to trim the budget is shortsighted.   To do so premised on the believe that anticipated opponents can't or won't match our present technological prowess ignores history's lesson that you can never assume who will be your friend or foe.   Moreover, when an administration plans to incur a deficit in a few years greater than that its 43 predecessors did in total, cutting defense spending seems less an economy measure than an ideological one. 

Fundamentally, Obama and his administration, as all leftists, don't apprehend that we have enemies who desire to do us harm simply because of who we are, as opposed to what we do or have done.    The terrorists hate us because we are free society not submitting to Mohammed and Allah; not because we have supported Israel in the past or invaded Iraq.   The "smartest people in the room" which constitute this administration are terribly naive when it comes to understanding the motivation of barbarians.    In this respect, they are eerily similar to the "Best and the Brightest" who served John F. Kennedy and Lyndon Johnson, who never understood the North Vietnamese.  

We rightly celebrate the rescue of Captain Phillips.   If we wish to retain the capacity to protect our citizens and national interest in the future, Congress must reject the Obama administration's defense cuts.

In a nation gone mad with political correctness people are often unwilling to state the unvarnished truth.   We don't want to offend anybody or seem to be "exclusive" or intolerant.    A Christian who wishes to be obedient does not have that luxury.

The simply truth is, there is only one way to be saved: the man, Jesus Christ.  "Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through me."  John 14:6.    Who is this Jesus, that He can make such a statement?  Simon Peter knew the answer: "Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God." Matthew 16:16   

Either Jesus is the Son of God or He was a liar and a nut case.   There's really no middle ground.

But the truth is that Jesus is the Son of God.  If that makes your writer intolerant and not inclusive, so be it.   As I read the Bible, Heaven will be an exclusive place, reserved for those who were obedient to God and have repented of their sins, placed their faith in Jesus, and surrendered to Jesus as Lord of their lives.    Faith in Budda or Mohammed will not secure entrance into Heaven.  

What must I do to be saved?  "Whoever will call upon the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13.
 "If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and belief in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved.  For with the heart man believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation."  Romans 10:9,10___  

Time is fleeting.  Don't let it get away from you.  "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. "  John 10:10.

P.S.  On this Easter, praise God for the United States Navy, who this day successfully rescued an American held hostage by pirates. 

President Obama told the people of Turkey that the United States is not a Christian nation.  Based on the evidence I see, I'd have to agree.  

A Christian nation would never countenance the slaughter of innocents.   The murder of babies that is abortion would have been stopped long ago if a professed Christians had demanded it.

A Christian nation would never tolerate the subversion of the republic by a tyrannical judiciary forcing homosexual marriage on the country.  Judges would have been impeached, defeated for reelection, or simply run out of town on a rail.  

And a Christian nation would have never elected Barack Obama as president of the United States.  Mr. Obama is for abortion and backs homosexual rights.  To be fair, he has said he does not support homosexual marriage, but I don't believe him.   He also is using the power of the Federal government to coerce physicians and hospitals to perform abortions against their moral scrupples.  

Mr. Obama professes to be a Christian but his professed attitudes and official actions don't seem Christ-like  to me.

While I'm on this issue, lets be clear about what political party and ideology back the murder of babies and the destruction of the family and tradional marriage.   That would be liberal Democrats.   Just yesterday in the Iowa legislature an attempt was made by Republican legislators to place the issue of referring a state constitutional amendment defining marriage as between a man and woman on the Iowa ballot.  The vote failed 55-44.  EVERY one who voted against it was a Democrat; two Democrats joined EVERY  Repubican in voting for it.   It is the Democrat party which is determined to destroy every last vestige of tradional morality in this country.    Whether they call themselves Blue Dogs or Blue ticks, when it comes to the lick log it makes no difference, they will vote leftist.    Remember that in 2010.

The president is on tour overseas, staying business apologizing for the country which elected him.   While at the G20 meeting, the president took time to pay homage to the King of Saudi Arabia, bowing deeply to the monarch of the nation which was home to 15 of the 9/11 terrorists.   I've said it before, Obama despises the country he was elected to lead and desires to radically change it.

There is one group of people who are in open revolt against the rule of law.   In fact, this group is winning.   They are judges, who are waging war against the democratic republican form of government and the Constitutions of the United States and the several states.  The latest victory of these rebels is the decision of the Iowa Supreme Court to strike down that state' s statute against homosexual marriage.   Since noting in the history of the Federal or any state constitution or the traditions of our people supports such a decision, the Court did what courts do these days: it made up a rationale out of thin air and pronounced it convincing.     The political class does not oppose gay marriage so don't expect any push back from the Iowa governor or legislature.   What has to be done, and I hope one day to see, is the people simply defy these decisions.   If the great mass of the people refuse to yield to the outrages of these black robed tyrants, then they will stop.   Until then, the assault on republican government by the judiciary will continue.

Speaking of judges, a Federal judge has ruled that Taliban captured AND HELD in Afghanistan, has the right to challenge their detention in Federal court.    Think about that for a second.    Enemies of the United States, captured by American troops OVERSEAS and held OVERSEAS, can go to an American court and demand their release.   This is insanity.    It really makes one wonder if the judicial branch of government actually considers itself part of the American government.    I have my doubts.

The Secretary of the Treasury states he will not hesitate to fire executives of banks and replace the boards of directors of these institutions, which have received financial assistance from the Federal government, when the bank is not performing to his standards.  President Obama has already fired the head of General Motors and told some of the bankers that his administration was all that stood between them and pitchforks.   I looked my copy of the constitution in vain for any provision which seems to give the Secretary or the President the authority to ax the executives or boards of private companies.   This administration is claiming power alien to our form of government, with the potential for abuse as we have never seen in our country.

North Korea has successfully lauched an ICBM capable of carrying a nuclear warhead which has the range to strike Japan and even Hawaii.   At virtually the same time President Obama made a speech expressing his intent to work for nuclear disarmament.   It is painfully obvious that Mr. Obama is terribly naivate about what motivates foreign governments and, more importantly, American's enemies.   He projects an image of weakness; we are going to suffer for it.

President Obama gave the Queen of England an I-Pod which contained (among other things) the collected speeches of Barack Obama.  A kind of "greatest hits" collection I suppose.    Really, our president is so egocentric that his arrogance can be funny.    First he gives the British prime minister DVD's which can't be played in England and now this gift to the Queen.   Wonder if he gave a present to the Saudi king?

Obama's tour doesn't include a stop in Israel.   The change of government in Israel brings to power a new realism about dealing with its Palestian neighbors and Iran.   As Obama's foreign policy has little to do with reality, it will soon collide with Israel's interests.   Nothing Obama or his administration has said or done about the Middle East can instill confidence in Israel about the direction of American policy.   Isreal's enemies see Obama as an ally in their war against the Jewish state; I think they are right.

Municipalities are raising taxes. States are raising taxes.  The Federal government will raise taxes.   I've worked for both state and local governments.   I can state without fear of contradiction that no matter how much money a government gets, IT WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH!    Government is an unthinking giant parasite sucking the life from the economy.    No amount of taxes will ever be enough.  There will always be some new project, some new service, some needed pay raise.   One day, the host of the parasite dies.   Government will never be satisfied.

Legislation has been introduced in Congress to give the President the power to control the Internet, in the vent of an "emergency."   The leftists control the legacy media, want to strangle conservative talk radio with the fairness doctrine, and with this legislation, if it becomes law, and shut down the internet.    Smoke signals are out because the EPA would declare smoke a pollutant.   I guess conservatives will have to return the old practice of oral tradition.  

The Obama administration has decided to refer to terrorist attacks as "man made disasters."  I prefer to think of such attacks as "enemy action."   A man made disaster occurred on November 4, 2008, when the American people elected Barack Obama president of the United States.   The event has every prospect of being the greatest man made disaster in American history.

The administration wants Congress to enact legislation to allow the secretary of the Treasury to seize control of a business entity whose failure would pose a systemic risk to the nation's financial system.  So if Wal-Mart's sales fall and its stock declines is the financial system at risk?  Have the American people become completely comatose?   The Congress is being asked to empower the executive to SEIZE CONTROL of any American business whose failure the executive deems poses a risk to the financial system.   Do not believe for a second that this would be the end.  The Federal government will not stop with business failures that discomfort the financial system.   In fact, it has already disregarded that limitation in propping up General Motors and Chrysler, and in this past week, auto parts suppliers.  Certainly the failure of GM or Chrysler, or parts companies, while distressful to the folks employed by these companies, would not pose a risk to the financial system of the country.   What would follow in short order from Congress passing the requested legislation is the government asserting the obligation to interfere into any aspect of the economy the president, acting through the secretary of the Treasury, deemed to be in the "national" interest. 

In 1933 a leader took office during troubled economic times.  The new leader was a charismatic politician who argued that the national ills could be more effectively addressed by concentrating power in the national executive.   His legislative program, however, was encountering opposition in the national assembly.  Then "something" happened that aroused and angered the public, an event which the charismatic leader used to bulldoze the opposition and secure the passage of the signature piece of legislation, called the "Enabling Act."  This legislation served as the legal basis for the leader to concentrate every growing power in his office and person, until, in a few short months, he had eliminated all organized opposition and had established an absolute dictatorship.   This charismatic leader was Adolf Hitler.   The legislation that he wants Congress to enact is the modern equivalent of the Enabling Act the German Reichstag passed at Hitler's demand.    It can't happen here you say?   Civilized Germans believed the same thing.   The logic of the liberalism is tyranny.  Liberalism never succeeds but liberals never accept its failure.  Instead, failure must be the fault of them, i.e., conservatives, Federalists, Christians, the "rich."   If only liberals had the power to move "them" out of the way, then the success of the liberal agenda would be assured.   If, in moving them out of the way, some people get hurt, well, they had it coming.  My friends, Obama is a leftist fanatic who thinks this way.  I know it is hard to believe that we have a president whose every instinct is contrary to the spirit of liberty which founded and guided this nation since its founding, but to close our eyes to the truth is to invite destruction.   Giving Obama power is like giving a Islamic terrorist the pilot seat in a passenger jet.   You can call it a "man made disaster."

Here are some questions to ponder:  What if we have come to the point that a majority of the American people want socialism?  What if the majority embraces statism?  What is the majority favors the creation of a European nanny state, with the massive taxation and governmental bureaucracy needed to run it?   In other words, what if  Obama's election represents not just a terrible mistake by the American people, but the decisive defeat of principled conservatism, a rejection of the original Constitutional framework of federalism, and of the free market?   The reader can think of more, but these will do for a start.

Why doesn't Congress simply legalize the torching of AIG's building in New York and the stoning of AIG employees?  Would that satisfy everybody?    Good heavens, there is far less anger toward bona fide terrorists than a small group of brokers and employees of AIG, who were paid PERFECTLY LEGAL BONUS' ALLOWED BY LAW!!

Never in my lifetime have I witnessed the level of demagogy and phoniness exhibited by our erstwhile representatives in the U.S. House on Thursday, March 19, 2009.   It was shameful, disgusting, and insulting to anyone with a wit of intelligence and perspective.  The U.S. House of Representatives became a mob, a mob seeking blood from an unpopular group.   Whether AIG should have paid bonus' is one thing, but this utterly out of proportion response is truly frightening.   Ninety percent taxation?   If Congress can do this to today's disfavored group, who will be next?   Why not gun and ammunition sellers?  That would dry up the firearms business fast, wouldn't it?  No need to worry with pesky firearm restrictions, just tax the heck out of the gun merchants and watch that industry disappear. 

If the Federal government can manipulate the tax code to confiscate perfectly legal compensation paid to an unpopular group, then the Constitution means nothing.    Anyone, ANYONE, can be the next target.

And of the damage this will do to our economy?    If one was a talented broker, banker, financial planner, etc., and had the opportunity to migrate, why would you remain in this country, where the government is engaged in a jihad against your profession?   Why person or entity with money to invest would chose the United States?    The rule of law provides no protection against mob hysteria right now.   The Congress and Obama administration are stoking the outrage.    Contracts can be retroactively abrogated or the proceeds earned from lawful bargains taxed at confiscatory rates.  These are not the acts of a mature republic but of a confused, incompetent and jealous populace.

It would help if there was an adult at the helm of the ship of state.  However, with Barack Obama, we have the the nation's first celebrity president.   My doesn't he enjoy the role!   He gets to appear on the Tonight Show and make jokes about handicapped people.  Class act, our President Obama.   It's nightmarish to contemplate the fact that Obama's term has 46 more months to run (assuming we survive to its end).   Reasonable knew what we were getting with Obama:  a thoroughgoing leftist radical, a Marxist-light, whose idealogy blinds him to inconvenient facts and whose goal is to remake this nation into the socialist "utopia" beloved of leftists.   He is also clueless about the real world and too arrogant to realize his ignorance.   Only by the grace of God will we survive his tenure in office.

Lest I appear too hard on our belove president, let us stipulate that the Congress, for the most part, is composed of a staggering collection of venal, babbling idiots.   The level of downright stupidity, malfeasance, misfeasance, and adject stupidity demonstrated everyday by these folks goes well beyond the norm we have come to expect.  At this most critical time in history, the elected great majority of the national representatives of the United States are incompetent to fulfill their duties. But you know, I really don't blame them.   These people were elected by an electorate dumbed down by 40 years of mis-education and cultural rot.   The fault for this mess lies with the Baby Boom generation, which embraced the religion of political correctness to corrupt our society.   And we are not finished.   As the Boomers age they have adopted a new religion, environmentalism, to destroy the economic foundation of the country.  A final legacy to our progeny.   We will wreck the culture and the economy.  The Baby Boom generation has have dissapted the legacy left it by its parents and grandparents, and mortgaged the future of subsequent generations to paid for its comfort and perversions.   The United States is being wrecked by the most selfish generation the Earth has ever seen.  To borrow a phrase, "America's chickens have come home to roost."

Back to Mr. Obama.   It seems he gave the British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown, a collection of DVDs as a present.  Leaving aside the fact this was a pitiful gift, it now appears that the DVDs will only play on North American region DVD players.    Unfortuntately, Great Britain is part of Europe and the DVDs won't work on Mr. Brown's player.   Perhaps this was planned all along -  now Mr. Obama can give Mr. Brown a new DVD player when they see each other again.   No, that would require some degree of forward thinking and competence, neither of which has been demonstrated by the Obama administration.

ACORN has contracted with the Census Bureau to assist in the 2010 national census.   Wow, that's a relief.   I was apprehensive my prediction that the Democrats would fix the census might be inaccurate.

I predict that within twenty-four months the U.S. dollar will be worth fifty percent less than it is today.    A nation cannot print money as we have done and not kindle raging inflation.   Salaries, savings, retirement funds, all will decline in value.   It is inevitable.

The Obama administration has dropped the designation of detainees as "enemy combatants."  I don't know what they have come up with as their new designation, but I suggest that henceforth detainees be described as "individuals needing secure and nurturing environments" or INSANE.   I this acronym accurately describes the detainees and the Obama's new policy.

The Obama administration has backed away from its proposal to make veterans pay for their own medical care for service related injuries via private insurance.   To describe this proposal as outrageous and evil is too mild.   It is incomprehensible that an American president would consider, even for a moment, the proposition that American servicemen and women, wounded or injured while serving their country, should have to pay for their own care.  The very idea is repugnant to any notion of honor or loyality.   Honor or loyality, however, has never been a virtue of the leftist Democrat.  The Armed Forces are already wary of Obama; this sort of proposal gives more reason for their mistrust.  No commander-in-chief worth the title would even have considered this abomination.

Apparently when Obama promised that no one earning under $250,000  annually would have their taxes raised he omitted a few facts.  Such as taxing the health care benefits of working Americans.   For many folks, none of whom anyone would think as rick but who have great employee medical insurance, this translates to a potential tax liability in the thousands of dollars.   Pair this idea with the insanity that is "Cap and Trade" to tax cardon emissions, which will cause massive increases in utility costs for all Americans, and the Obama administration will achieve in a single term the pauperization of the whole nation.

The publicly owned insurance giant, AIG, paid many executives and employees six figure or greater bonuses.  This was ill advised and has resulted in an uproar.  What is even more deplorable, however, has been the pathetic demagogy writ large by members of Congress.  These legislative titans are howling about bonuses which they specifically, in the stimulus legislation, allowed to be paid.   There defense for this, should as it is, is that they didn't have time to read the legislation they passed and didnt' realize everything in the bill!   What sort of idiots are these people?

The Obama administration's foreign policy so far as flown under the radar, which is too bad because it has been every bit as disasterous as his domestic moves.   In less than two months Obama has insulted the British prime minister, aliened Israel, and caused allies all over the world to question American resolve.   Simultaneously our enemies have been emboldened.   China harrasses our ships in international waters.  Russia is rearming.  Iran slaps our open hand away and threatens our destruction and the destruction of Isreal.  North Korea prepares to test intercontinental ballastic missiles.  Our enemies sense weakness in Obama  and  our enemies are right.

We are told by the media that Barack Obama is a smart man.  I suppose of evidence of this is that he has written two works of  fiction and sold them as biographical, and that he reads a speech well off a teleprompter.  Our president obviously believes he's an intellectual; he's mastered the condescending smirk/smile and manner of address so common to the left, whose members look down their nose at regular folks and conservatives. 

I bring this up because Mr. Obama stated today that the United States could not return to the old ways of boom and bust in the American economy.   This remark is comparable to warning that it is no longer acceptable for the weather to change from hot to cold.   For Mr. Obama, if we are maintain a free society and a free market, can no more guarantee the economy will not experience boom or bust cycles any more than he can guarantee the weather will always be mild.    The only way to eliminate economic cycles is to force on the country a command economy similar to the old Soviet Union and at work in Cuba.   This is actually what Mr. Obama, a Marxist at heart, wants, and what his remark telegraphs to anyone with ears to hear.   In keeping with one of this administration's unstated reasons for existence, forcing a command economy on the country will have the virtue of squaring accounts with the rich (defined as anyone with any assets or decent job or who is a male or white) for their past "crimes," centralizing maximum power in the federal power via regulation and control over distrubtion of income and assets, and increasing dependency of the population on government handouts, since the only a subsistence living standard  which results from a command economy.  

So either the president is too stupid to know that boom and bust are inherent in a free market, or has inadvertently indicated his intentions.
In either case, the hubris of this administration manifests itself in ways big and small everyday.   Pride, the Bible tells us, goeth before a fall.   Let's hope the fall is of this administration and not of this country.
